Abudo's courses helped empower me when I was suffering from breast cancer. They helped me understand what was happening to my body and how I could overcome my emotions. I recommend this course to everyone who has breast cancer or knows someone suffering from it.

I love how Abudo is promoting positivity through their courses and supplements. Each bottle comes with a positive affirmation which truly can change the way we think and process information. Loved the idea!

Growing Trends in Diabetes Management

Growing Trends in Diabetes Management

As research in healthcare continues to surprise us with newer developments and interventions for prevention and treatment, there’s good news for patients living with diabetes too!

Management options for people with diabetes have greatly improved the quality of their lives. Both patients and health care providers find the new trends to be the way forward for diabetes management.

Let’s have a look at some of the latest trends in diabetes treatment and what they entail.

1. More Medication Options

(As if current medication is not already enough!)

No, but jokes aside, the medical department is introducing more medicine for diabetics in the market. This includes insulin that is long lasting which, is typically used only once a day. Alongside there’s also insulin that can be inhaled (not injectable) and works rapidly. (Yay! No more needles.) Of course, different types of insulin, suit different people, and so if you are interested in trying something different and knowing whether it works for you, speak to your health care provider.

2. Diabetes Education

In recent years, more and more support along with efforts of patient education groups have made diabetes education available. These are available both in communities and online and is a great way for people living with diabetes, people who have been recently diagnosed with diabetes and people caring for diabetic patients to connect. The American Diabetes Association also Sponsors online conversations and diabetes events and programs in aid of diabetic patient management, allowing the exchange of information and experiences.

3. Monitoring Blood Sugar

Along with standard blood testing, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is becoming a trend in diabetic patients, to track glucose levels in people who use insulin. Typically the standard method involves pricking your finger and getting the blood onto a test strip. Then it is inserted into a glucose meter that measures the glucose levels.

Continuous glucose monitoring involves placing a tiny sensor beneath the skin which, measure glucose levels at all times. You are then able to see the results on a handheld wireless monitor. If the blood sugar levels become too high or drop too low, the system can send alarms to inform you. Though continuous glucose monitoring is a great asset in diabetic patient management, it measures only an approximation of the actual blood value.

As a result, patients still have to follow up with standard glucose monitoring testing in order to get more reliable results. While CGM is FDA approved, it is not approved as a replacement for finger-stick testing and they don’t provide accurate enough results.

4. Continued Insurance Challenge

Though medical science and technology has advanced a huge deal and has made an improvement in diabetes care, insurance challenges let down many individuals. Diabetes can be costly, especially when it comes to medication and blood test strips.

Usually, insurance companies require documents from health care providers to prove that your medication is necessary in the amounts provided. But even with documentation companies will only cover a limited amount of supplies.

It is evident that researchers are making all-out efforts to aid Diabetes management. Our take on these growing trends in Diabetes management is an endeavor to acquaint you with the advancements that can make everyday life with a condition like yours easier.
