An Egg A Day Can Keep A Stroke Away!

We might think of eggs as unhealthy, but could they make it to the “stroke prevention foods” list?

Since long we’ve heard that due to their high cholesterol levels, eggs can be quite bad for us. So, you’re not alone if you’ve heard that consumption of more than two or three eggs per week is harmful to your health. After all, egg yolks contain a very high level of cholesterol which can be harmful especially for those already at risk of cardiovascular events.

And recently, new research suggests that there are some serious stroke prevention foods which include daily egg consumption could help steer away cardiovascular conditions. Yes, you read that right.

According to a study published in the journal Heart, researchers discovered that people who ate an egg daily had an 18 percent lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease and a 28 percent lower risk of experiencing a deadly stroke, in comparison to people who did not eat eggs.

The study was carried out on a large scale with over 400,000 participants from ages 39 to 79. The participants all came from 10 different survey sites in China. The researchers kept a close eye on how often study subjects reported eating eggs and then went on to track their health using registries and other methods over a period of nine years!

The researchers found

Egg to be a good contributor in the list of the stroke prevention foods. that those participants who reported moderate egg consumption which was stated as one egg per day were less likely to develop cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, hemorrhagic stroke, ischemic stroke, and other related events than those who did not eat eggs.

As per different statistical tests, it was concluded that there was a 12 percent lower risk of developing ischemic heart disease, or coronary heart disease in those who had an average intake of 5.32 eggs in a week compared to those who only had 2.

The study further revealed that despite being rich in cholesterol, eggs are packed with healthful nutrients, such as protein, vitamins, phospholipids, and carotenoids, eggs made it to the stroke prevention foods list. And this made them a healthy staple food which could not only prevent diseases but could help recover from certain diseases such as stroke. But before you whip out the frying pan, experts have urged caution.

Check for cholesterol levels to check whether eggs would be the right when it comes to stroke prevention foods and whether they are nutritious for you or not.
